Sagari

Region of origin: Kyushu, Japan

The ghosts of horses that died by the side of the road and were abandoned, the sagari (Japanese for “hanging”) will hang from tree branches by its tail, dropping down and screaming at passersby. This is done out of mischief more than malice but these people will often develop a strong fever after the encounter.
