Various versions attribute his origins and loyalties to different alien civilizations, but throughout most iterations the creature known as Gigan was a massive extraterrestrial reptilian creature who was experimented on and rebuilt with various cybernetic enhancements and arsenals and sent to Earth to fascilitate its conquest, often in conjunction with other space-borne kaiju such as King Ghidorah or Megalon, only to be repelled by Godzilla and his allies. Aside from his natural size and hardiness as a kaiju, Gigan makes use of various augmentations that can be swapped out upgraded, from  hooks and blades to more complex mechanical additions like chainsaw arms, the buzzsaw in his abdomen and lasers fired from his visor-like single eye.

Daimajin

ABC082

Daimajin

Region of origin: Japan

Literally “Giant Demon God”, Daimajin is a massive stone statue inhabited by the spirit of a vanquished demon king, Arakatsuma, who has been kept dormant by the prayers of the inhabitants of a nearby village, his struggles against his imprisonment manifesting as occasional earthquakes. When compelled by the villagers or the statue is put under physical assault, the spirit can animate the statue and wreak havoc throughout the region, often destroying the forces of some evil warlord but also proving to not be particularly discriminate about what or who gets trampled once awakened, although it seems to show some leniency towards children or the pure of heart. After his purpose has been served, the statue will return to normal there are instances of Arakatsuma turning into a hitodama-like ball of fire before flying away, but he seems to remain bound to the statue. Despite being a carved idol, Daimajin is shown to capable of bleeding even in its dormant stage and some promotional material shows it possessing a strange array of organs and nerves.

MUTO

ABC081

MUTO

Region of origin: The Philippines

Taking its name from the acronym given to the broader classification it belongs to (Massive Unidentified Terretrial Organism), the MUTO were ancient proto-insectoid creatures that parasitized the other giant creatures that occupied the primordial earth, the young MUTO spending the early stages of their life in the bodies of their hosts, feeding off the residual radiation these other creatures consumed. Having consumed enough energy, the MUTO would eventually enter a chrysalis stage, from which they would emerge and carve their way out of the host body. Two of these chrysalises would survive undisturbed for millions of years in a cavern deep beneath the Philippines before human excavations disturbed them, leading to the creatures waking up and seeking out new sources of energy to consume and a location to reproduce, their instincts driving them on a path of destruction through the modern world before a similarly awakened giant creature was able to stop them. You know the one. The MUTO are sexually dimorphic, with the males being much smaller than the female and possessing midlegs that have developed into flat, glider-like structures that can function as wings.

Ganime

ABC080.jpg

Ganime

Region of origin: Sergio Island, south Pacific ocean

After the space amoeba known as Bemular or alternatively Yog, a member of a Lovecraftian race of shapeless conquerors, hitched a ride to Earth via an unmanned rocket sent to Jupiter, he crash-landed near the remote Sergio Island and began forming an army of giant creatures to attack the planet, mutating local fauna including cuttlefish, turtles and a rubble crab (also known as a horrid elbow crab). A group of scientists and resort planners who had convened on Sergio for their own purposes dealt with the monsters after discovering Yog, Ganime and the other monsters were hurt and disoriented by extremely high-pitched noises such as the echolocation of the colony of bats that have nested on the island, and were also weak to high temperatures such as being pushed into a volcano.

Guilala

ABC079

Guilala

Region of origin: The depths of space

A massive creature born of a fungal or plant-like spore, the guilala feeds on energy to increase its mass, abilities or reproduction rate. The guilala was weaponized by an unknown alien race, who sprayed a human vessel that was attempting to approach Mars with the spores; as the humans returned to Earth one spore that was brought back for research was broken out of containment in an accident and grew to a gigantic size, rampaging through cities in a search for more energy to consume, shrugging off any artillery and other military intervention it encountered. From a casing that originally housed the spore, human scientists involved in the Mars missions were able to synthesize a material, named Guilalium after the monster, that they coated the creature with and was able to block its energy absorption and, starving it, reduced it back down to its original dormant state, which was then sealed away and launched back into space.
