Axehandle Hounds
Region of origin: Midwestern United States
Nocturnal creatures, these axe-faced dogs would sneak into lumber camps at night and abscond with axehandles and other supplies, their favorite snacks. Despite their weaponized visage, these dogs were otherwise friendly and could be kept as pets, albeit especially costly ones to feed.
