Mimi

Region of origin: Arnhem Land, Australia

Like the huldufolk or djinn, the mimi are a fairy-like race who live in their own extra-dimensional space but have had interactions with the aboriginal tribes of northern Australia. They are said to have taught early man important skills, such as how to create fire, hunt and prepare food, and paint. In recent times they are more regarded as solitary and isolated and while generally peaceful they can be mischievous or downright harmful towards people if bothered. Their thin bodies leave them vulnerable to being snapped in half by a strong wind so they spend a lot of their time in this dimension hiding in the safety of rock crevices.
