Big Mouth Billy Bass
Region of origin: Coppell, Texas, United States
Starting in the latter years of the 1990s, there were numerous sightings of a largemouth bass said to be able to talk and sing, philosophizing to listeners by echoing the teachings of Indian spiritualist Meher Baba, or entreating them with his siren song requesting they return him to his river home. The fish seemed able to live outside of the water and even survive being mounted to a wall, he seems to be potentially immortal so long as someone replaces his batteries. Mentions of the Billy Bass appear in numerous cultures and stories, in some regions he has even been adopted into the traditions of the Christmas season. Sightings continue to this day, and there are even some who claim to have captured the creature on video.
